Mill Creek
Designer Studio Plow
General Contractor Grain Construction
Mill Creek is a kitchen with a point of view. Designed by Studio Plow for a creatively fearless client, the project gave Joinery the opportunity to turn an expressive red elm palette into something playful, highly detailed, and entirely custom.
The cabinetry was built using Joinery’s shop-sawn thick veneer, allowing the distinctive grain and movement of the red elm to become part of the architecture of the room. Rather than quieting the material down, the design leans into it. Tall cabinet faces emphasize the natural grain, while patterned upper panels, dark hardware, and carefully detailed edges give the kitchen a rhythm and character all its own.
The result required more than simply building a set of cabinets to a drawing. Material selection, veneer layout, fabrication, and installation all had to work together so that the boldness of the design still felt deliberate and resolved.
